About the role
As the Lead Electrical Safety Inspector, you will work with limited supervision as part of the Field Services Team in the Electrical Safety Office (ESO) directorate to deliver contemporary regulatory and other government services to Queenslanders. A current Queensland electrical work license is desirable.
Key responsibilities
- monitoring and enforcing compliance by exercising the powers of an appointed inspector in accordance with the Electrical Safety Act 2002- undertaking a lead role in the investigation of complex or contentious incidents and complaints to ensure appropriate enforcement action is taken to address breaches of electrical safety legislation
- mentoring and auditing field-based inspectors to ensure OIR operational procedures are being implemented and inspectors are able to undertake their roles in a competent and safe manner
- providing leadership, strategic direction and support to the Manager for the development and implementation of regional interventions that support the ESO's Business Plan
- providing direction and oversight of the delivery of the region's proactive Compliance and Engagement Program
- assisting the Electrical Safety Manager with monitoring of reactive workloads and where required prioritising potential matters for Electrical Licensing Committee referral or escalation to comprehensive investigation
- managing relationships with key regional and local stakeholders in industry, commerce, government, education, training and the wider community to identify ongoing and emerging needs and issues, develop initiatives, and provide advice to the Electrical Safety Manager on these matters.

The Electrical Safety Office (ESO) helps to keep people electrically safe at work and home.
We have a vision to prevent death, injury and destruction of property caused by electricity, and we work towards it by monitoring and enforcing compliance with electrical safety laws.
**The ESO has six strategic goals**:

Assisting industry to comply, whilst ensuring there are consequences for noncompliance.4. Using a risk and evidence-based approach to design interventions and policy responses.5. Providing electrical safety information, education, and targeted interventions.6. Empowering a competent, confident, and collaborative team.
