OverviewGet AI-powered advice on this job and more exclusive features.A rare opportunity to join the screen and film industry and advocate change to achieve a healthy operating environment for our members who produce the world's best screen stories.The RoleWorking closely with the CEO at Screen Producers Australia, the Director of Policy will be responsible for shaping Policy and Advocacy strategies that lead the screen industry through change and achieve a healthy operating environment for our members who produce the world's best screen stories.
Key to your success in this role will be your ability to strategically engage and partner with key stakeholders such as our SPA Members, the Australian Government, MPs, and industry bodies including screen agencies, to communicate and influence on critical screen policy matters.In addition, you will:Provide strategic advice and recommendation to the CEO and Board on effective strategy for influencing policy change and agendasMonitor, research and analyse domestic and international screen policy and commercial trends, to support SPA and our membership in advocacy initiativesDevelop and execute engagement strategies across all levels of Government to advance SPA objectives, including overall strategy, relationship cultivation and direct engagementPrepare briefing papers, submissions, presentations, correspondence, media releases, and general policy updates for membersReview relevant government inquiries to identify policy implications for the independent production sector and SPA membersRepresent Screen Producers Australia at public forums, networking and conference events to advance strategic prioritiesCollaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including state agencies, industry representatives and our members to inform and refine policy approachesAbout youWe're looking for someone who excels in managing competing priorities, delivering high-quality outcomes under pressure, and adapting quickly to change in a fast-paced environment.Ideally, you will have 7+ years industry experience in a similar role with:Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as Policy and Governance, Law, Business or a related disciplineDemonstrated experience in a similar role, including but not limited to government policy, strategic communications or legal fieldsExperience in developing rigorous and persuasive submissions on complex policy areasExpert communicator with excellent interpersonal skills to partner and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders of competing interestsUnderstanding and experience working with government processes, structures and regulatory landscapeAn understanding and keen interest in the screen production industry highly regardedJoin a reputable organisationScreen Producers Australia is the national industry body that represents Australian independent film and television producers and supports the interests of businesses in their production of feature films, television programs, interactive content across all genres and formats.
