What You Will Be Doing
Requirements Analysis: Work with business analysts to understand business problems and ensure detailed, robust requirements for solution design.
Solution Design and Blueprinting: Design technical solutions aligned to architectural standards, select platforms/tools/architectural patterns, and create blueprints, system diagrams, and architectural documents detailing components, interactions, and technologies.
Technology Selection and Evaluation: Evaluate and recommend technologies considering the existing stack, budget, maintenance costs, and future scalability.
Technical Leadership and Governance: Provide technical guidance to development teams, ensure adherence to architecture and security standards, and act as a point of contact for technical decisions.
Stakeholder Communication: Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences; present design, benefits, and risks to align stakeholders.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential technical risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring a robust solution.
Contribute to Enterprise Architecture: Provide feedback on standards and patterns, share technology experiences and emerging trends with the wider team.
What We Need From You
Financial Domain Knowledge: Foundational understanding of equities, fixed income, derivatives, and other financial instruments; knowledge of trading workflows, OMS, risk management, and post-trade processing is beneficial.
Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with technologies critical to the financial sector, including:
Low-latency Systems: Experience designing and implementing high-performance, low-latency trading systems.
Integration: Experience with APIs and events and modern architectural models such as microservices.
Cloud Computing: Expertise with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) to build scalable and resilient financial applications with automation (Terraform, GitHub Pipelines).
Data and Analytics: Knowledge of data pipelines, SQL and NoSQL databases, and analytics tools to support a data-driven business.
Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with key regulations (ASIC, ASX, Privacy) and designing compliant solutions.
Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex trading and business problems and design effective, future-proof and cost-efficient solutions.
Communication: Excellent communication skills to bridge between traders, compliance, and technical teams and explain solutions, trade-offs, and risks to non-technical stakeholders.
