**SMS Mining Services is a privately owned, West Australian based Mining Contractor. Founded in 2000, SMS has progressed from being solely Equipment Rental to now having extensive involvement in the Maintenance, Contract Mining and Drill and Blast Divisions.**

We have a rare opportunity available for an enthusiastic Senior Purchasing Officer to join our Welshpool team on a full-time permanent basis.

**Job Tasks and Responsibilities**
- A high level of accuracy in the checking and processing of purchase orders
- Provide a dedicated purchasing service to support Site and Perth based departments.
- Liaise directly with site customers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of procured goods and services
- Support our site teams and internal stakeholders with order queries
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding orders
- Prioritise approved purchase orders and complete all priority purchase orders immediately.
- Negotiate with suppliers for best price and products that meet SMS requirements.
- High level of initiative and problem-solving skills with the ability to follow through
- Prepare orders for goods and services in accordance with approved procedures
- Investigate invoice discrepancies relating to all orders

**Skills and Experience**
- Previous experience in a similar role in the Mining industry
- Vast knowledge of mining equipment and parts
- High attention to detail
- Excellent computer skills
- Efficient and accurate data entry skills
- Advanced verbal, written and numerical skills
- Team player
