Overview An exciting opportunity exists for an outstanding, relational, and innovative leader to join the South East Region Music team as Head of Department- Curriculum (Instrumental Music), based at Pimpama State School.
In this role, you will contribute to curriculum implementation, drive high-level learning outcomes, and foster quality pedagogy within the Instrumental Music (IM) Program.
The South East Region Music team is dedicated to building teacher capacity, modelling best practices, developing rapport with regional teachers, and creating a positive culture within teams.
This role includes frequent travel across the region and a teaching component as part of the regional Instrumental Music team.Responsibilities Lead the relevant curriculum areas or whole school program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.Embed socially just practices in daily school life.Set high standards for student and staff performance.Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.Support Instrumental Music (IM) teachers in curriculum implementation and delivery.Ensure quality assurance processes related to the IM Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).
Drive recruitment and retention efforts to create an inclusive IM program.Contribute to twice-yearly moderation and provide support to teachers across primary and high school levels.Qualifications Qualified for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.Experience delivering the Queensland Instrumental Music Curriculum is highly desirable, or a strong growth mindset to acquire the relevant knowledge.Requirements and Conditions Based at the South East Regional Music Hub at Pimpama State School, with frequent travel across the region.Includes a teaching component as part of the regional Instrumental Music team.Current Working with Children Clearance (Blue Card) issued by Blue Card Services may be required for regulated roles.Applications from recruitment agencies will not be accepted.Applicants must be current Queensland Government employees to be eligible to apply.How to Apply Attach a brief resume including contact details for two referees who are familiar with your relevant work history.Attach a written statement (two-page maximum) addressing Key Capabilities 1-4 as per the Role Description "How you will be assessed" section.Attach a copy of the mandatory requirements outlined in the attached role description.We welcome all applicants to share any support needed to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive.
