Do you have a passion for storytelling and a desire to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others? Join us as a Volunteer Biographer and help capture the rich stories and memories of our residents, preserving their legacies for future generations.
We are looking for a compassionate and skilled individual with strong communication abilities to volunteer as a Biographer in our Logan and surrounding areas.
- a genuine interest in people's stories and histories, particularly local and familial histories,
- and the ability to transform oral accounts into clear, well-edited text.
- Strong research and active listening skills are essential, along with the ability to ask thoughtful questions and create a safe space for residents to share their memories.
- Volunteer should be comfortable using electronic recorders, have basic word processing skills, and be flexible in meeting program needs.
- A commitment to confidentiality, teamwork, and collaboration is key to this role.

As a Volunteer Biographer, you will interview residents to capture their personal stories and memories, documenting their experiences in written form. You will assist with transcription and editing, collaborate with residents to review and revise drafts, and create storyboards when needed. Additionally, you will submit the final biography for layout and printing and participate in ongoing debriefing sessions and training to ensure continued support.
