Healthcare Australia (HCA) is an international organisation & registered NDIS provider specialising in Core Supports, providing In-Home and Community Access support to NDIS participants.We are currently looking for reliable and outgoing Disability Support Workers for ongoing shifts in Townsville, to support, engage, and motivate our customers to achieve their NDIS goals.Please apply only if you are willing to travel up to 30 minutes for shifts.
Shifts can vary in length, including short, long, and overnight shifts.The Role – Disability Support Worker :Support individuals of all ages with intellectual impairments, mental health, and/or physical disabilities.Commit to regular and consistent shift schedules, including day/night, weekend, and public holiday shifts.Provide outstanding interpersonal, communication, and resilience skills.Experience in personal care, medication assistance, manual handling, and managing challenging behaviors.Adaptability to work with different individuals.Be creative and resourceful to help customers achieve their goals through high-quality 1:1 support with Daily Living.Be passionate, empathetic, and committed to providing the best care to each individual.Support physical health and emotional well-being.Assist individuals to and from community-based activities and medical appointments when required.Complete all relevant documentation, reporting, and shift notes as required.Mandatory Requirements :Minimum Cert III or higher in a relevant field.At least 12 months of paid experience in a similar role.QLD Paid Blue Card / Working with Children Check.Paid (P) NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.Current First Aid Certificate.Current CPR Certificate.Ability to provide 100 points of ID, including evidence of work rights in Australia.Current National Police Check (not older than 6 months).
COVID-19 vaccinated (2 doses).
Unrestricted open QLD Driver Licence.Own reliable transport and willing to use it for work.Full comprehensive car insurance.Smartphone (iOS or Android).
Willing to complete recruitment process online, including online competencies, eLearning modules, and attend an in-person paid induction at one of our HCA offices (Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast).
Experience highly regarded :Manual handling/transfers.Qualifications in mental health, complex or challenging behavior.Personal care assistance and hygiene.Medication assistance and administration.PEG feeding.Bowel and catheter care.Youth work.MAYBO (Managing Youth and Behavior Outcomes).
Diabetes and epilepsy management.Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and trauma.Experience with Motor Neuron Disease (MND).
