**The Role**

The Category Assistant role brings the BIG W Strategy to life by providing the Commercial Leaders, stakeholders and suppliers high levels of support whilst maintaining overall data integrity to contribute to the maximise sales, profit and customer satisfaction and optimise inventory.
- Support Category Leaders with supplier correspondence
- contribute to overall business VOS
- Support the development and maintenance of the assortment & buy plan and the collection of new article information to ensure data integrity
- Maintain data integrity (include but not limited to create article shells
- maintain master data, discontinue products
- maintain accurate price, and promotional information) to support the Commercial team and stakeholders to deliver towards business strategy
- Support Category Leaders with raising, adjusting and maintaining contracts and purchase orders (local only) to ensure accuracy of contracts & orders
- Build deep knowledge of categories to provide support to Commercial Leaders
- Role model BIG W Purpose, Values and Ways of Working
- Develop as a Category Assistant with clear development
- build trusted relationships within the BIG W business

**About You**

**_To be successful in this role and thrive in our culture, you will possess the following attributes:

- Have previous experience in a FMCG or retail environment
- Accurate data management experience
- Strong administration and organisational skills
- Be proficient in Excel
- A self motivated individual
- Previous experience working as a Category Assistant in Hardware or hardgoods would be highly regarded
