Western Health is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Grade 3 Pharmacy Technician to complement our Oncology team at Sunshine Hospital on a permanent full-time basis. This presents an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to contribute and support the daily operations of our expanding Oncology service.

The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting in the supervision, orientation and training of pharmacy technicians in the Oncology Satellite Pharmacy. This is in addition to participating in the production of cytotoxic IV preparations and co-ordinating the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme Claim. They are to ensure accurate inventory management of pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical supplies used in the Oncology Satellite Pharmacy. Assisting with Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement activities will also form part of their portfolio.
- Certificate IV in Health (Hospital Pharmacy Technician) or equivalent, and in particular, successful completion of a sterile and cytotoxic preparation course/module.
- Minimum of four years full time experience as a qualified Pharmacy Technician
- Well-developed organisational skills and capacity to assign priority to responsibilities to ensure timely completion of tasks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member
- Leadership qualities and the ability to help supervise junior staff
- Experience in processing and optimising Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme claims
