Position: DevOps Engineer – FinTechLocation: Sydney, Australia (Hybrid/Remote Options Available)Employment Type: Full-Time
About the RoleOur client is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join their close-knit team, playing a key role in bridging the gap between development and operations, and managing infrastructure, automation, and deployments across multiple environments to ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of solutions.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and maintain infrastructure across multiple environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).Develop, manage, and optimise CI/CD pipelines to ensure fast and reliable software delivery.Provision, configure, and optimise cloud resources to support scalability and performance.Containerise and orchestrate applications using Docker and Kubernetes (or similar tools).Implement and enforce security best practices, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and protection of sensitive data.Monitor, log, and analyse system performance, proactively addressing bottlenecks and risks to guarantee reliability and availability.Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and deployment issues, minimising downtime.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support solution design, delivery, and deployment.Drive continuous improvement of DevOps practices, automation, and toolsets.
Required Skills & Qualifications3+ years of experience in a DevOps, Cloud, or Infrastructure Engineering role.Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and related tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions).Practical experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).Solid understanding of system monitoring, logging, and alerting (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, CloudWatch).Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, or similar) for automation.Strong grasp of security best practices and compliance considerations in regulated environments (ideally FinTech/financial services).Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a focus on minimising downtime.Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have:Experience in banking, FinTech, or other highly regulated industries.Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and a shift-left approach to security.Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).Experience designing and implementing high-availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) strategies in multi-region environments.
