**Description**:
The opportunity.

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, this key leadership role operates within the 2nd line Risk and Compliance function with responsibility for ensuring, in conjunction with the business, that the credit risk management framework settings are appropriate with a particular bias towards delivery against credit risk appetite and policy.

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to);
- Driving the risk maturity across the business maintained through a constructive engaging style that is results oriented recognising the proportional approach inherent in the Bank's scale, complexity and resource allocation.
- Responsibly of operational risk as it applies to Lending specifically advising the business in documenting and enhancing its control environment.
- Providing assurance over key lending controls, design and effectiveness and overseeing and advising the business's response to Lending related incidents and breaches.
- Conducting periodic reviews of Lending Policy & procedures against applicable Regulations.
- Interpreting and guiding the implementation of appropriate bank lending policies and procedures to accommodate the changing regulatory environment.
- Working collaboratively with the Lending team to further develop staff lending culture in line with risk based growth objectives.

**Skills and Experiences**:
About you.

You have an eye for detail, an analytical mind and are ready for a transition from a strong lending assessment background within a 1st Line of Defence role to an oversight in 2nd Line of Defence role working as a key member of the Risk and Compliance team. You pride yourself on your ability to think outside the box to deliver a credit risk framework, and your strong interpersonal skills and well-developed understanding of credit products, processes, legislation and systems set you apart.

To be considered for this role you will have 5 -10 years' experience within a senior lending retail bank focused role and an understanding of credit risk policies and lending underwriting standards, as well as Tertiary Qualification in Cert IV Finance and/or relevant field (or equivalent experience).

- Establish appropriate risk oversight to protect the Bank and our members.
- Be involved in transforming the risk maturity of a successful bonded mutual bank.
- Liaise with ADI peers to benchmark best practice and identify trends in Risk management and the Lending landscape bringing these insights bank into DB to inform and appropriately action areas of the bank's risk performance and appetite.
- Support and work towards the achievement of the Bank's Strategic initiatives.
