Working to protect the state's environment and heritage.About the roleNational Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Senior Project Officer Feral Cat Control & Research to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.
The Senior Project Officer, Cat Control & Research plays a pivotal role in managing and coordinating complex, high-impact projects that support NPWS strategic objectives.
This position leads the delivery of targeted feral cat control programs, representing NPWS on the National Feral Cat Taskforce and overseeing a multidisciplinary team including operational staff, researchers, and contractors.
You will drive project planning and evaluation, supervise and support staff and ensure programs are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest standards.
Key responsibilities include coordinating ground shooting operations, leading research into innovative control methods such as aerial baiting, securing permits and approvals, engaging with stakeholders and communities, chairing the Project Control Group and ensuring rigorous data management and reporting systems are in place.
