We're looking for a** Technical Officer** to join the team based in Clayton on a Fixed-Term Contract of 12 months and will report to Director of Strategic Development.

You will provide technical expertise to manufacturing and sales to support existing products and to use this expertise to help develop and introduce new products. You will also lead quality improvement plans to improve efficiency and lower costs.

**Responsibilities**
- Developing and testing of new products.
- Providing technical advice to sales, marketing, and customers
- Producing sales aids and evaluation of competitive products
- Conducting product demonstrations to customers and field trials
- Conducting testing and verification of alternate sources of raw materials and issuing of specifications.
- Reduction of formula process times and achieving product quality at minimum cost

**Requirements**:
Technical:

- Colour formulation skills
- Experience in manufacturing, paint formulation and paint failure investigation
- Practical knowledge of OPM systems and other PC-based literacy.

For the products and services being managed:

- Experience with paint technology and similar market and customer base

Formal Training:

- Bachelor of Science or equivalent with a chemistry major (Scientific knowledge gained on the job (12 years) can replace a formal qualification)
- 2+ years' experience in the surface coatings industry gained in product development and technical service.
- Paint technology
- Report writing skills.
- Experimental Design
