**What you will do**:
Your role will be to provide the HIA function, including the management of an external provider of internal audit (IA) services.

**Responsibilities will include**:

- as the appointed Head of Internal Audit, leading the internal audit (IA) function for the department including managing co-sourcing arrangements, the collaborative development of the annual IA workplan and quality control of IA reports and recommendations;
- building a culture that embraces IA and risk management to ensure a proactive continuous improvement approach to the effective management of the department;
- coordinating ARC meetings, including preliminary briefing meetings with the ARC Chair and other key stakeholders as required and providing the ARC secretariat function;
- conducting internal audits, where appropriate;
- liaising with QAO on external audit matters;
- conducting annual reviews of IA, risk management and ARC performance;
- leading a small team, ensuring effective and consistent service delivery and quality outcomes coupled with efficient management of financial and human resources in accordance with government policy and legislative requirements;
- identifying opportunities for policy or process improvements including internal control arrangements and providing guidance on the Fraud Control Plan and Policy;
- responding to whole of government matters in relation to IA and enterprise risk management;
- responding to relevant correspondence on behalf of the Director-General, Deputy Director-General Corporate and Minister as required.

You will have a dual reporting line. In respect of internal audit issues, you will have a reporting line directly to the Director-General. For operational and administrative issues, you will report to the Deputy Director-General, Corporate.
