**Purpose of the Role**
The Care Service Employee (CSE) provides safe, respectful, and quality care that supports residents' dignity, independence, and wellbeing in alignment with the Aged Care Quality Standards (2024) and the Aged Care Act (commencing 1 November 2025).
The role contributes to delivering person-centred care, cultural inclusion, and clinical support under supervision, ensuring compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and organisational requirements.
**Key Responsibilities**
**1. Care and Services Delivery**
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal care, mobility, nutrition, hydration, and continence support.
- Provide culturally safe, trauma-informed, and inclusive care tailored to individual needs and preferences.
- Support residents to maintain independence, autonomy, and decision-making in line with the Statement of Rights.
- Promote emotional wellbeing, dignity, and respect in all interactions.
**2. Clinical and Health Support**
- Observe, document, and promptly report any changes in residents' health, wellbeing, or behaviour to the Registered Nurse.
- Assist in the safe administration and management of medications as delegated and in line with scope of practice.
- Contribute to infection prevention and control, antimicrobial stewardship, and incident management.
**3. Quality, Compliance, and Safety**
- Work in accordance with the new strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards including:
- Standard 1: The Person
- Standard 2: The Organisation
- Standard 3: The Care and Services
- Standard 4: The Environment
- Participate in continuous improvement activities, audits, and feedback systems.
- Adhere to policies on open disclosure, restrictive practices, and incident reporting (SIRS).
- Ensure safe work practices in line with WHS requirements.
**4. Communication and Collaboration**
- Engage respectfully with residents, families, carers, and multidisciplinary team members.
- Support residents and families in providing feedback and complaints in line with the organisation's procedures.
- Contribute to handovers, documentation, and digital care systems (e.g., clinical software, incident registers).
**5. Professional Development**
- Participate in mandatory training (manual handling, fire safety, infection control, CPR, etc.).
- Maintain up-to-date competencies and professional standards of practice.
- Actively contribute to a learning culture through reflection, peer support, and mentoring.
**Key Relationships**
- Internal: Residents, Registered Nurses, Allied Health, Kitchen & Domestic Services staff, Leadership team.
- External: Families and carers, General Practitioners, Contractors, Regulators (ACQSC, Department of Health and Aged Care).
**Selection Criteria**
**Essential**
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) or equivalent.
- Knowledge of the Aged Care Quality Standards (2024) and reforms commencing 1 November 2025.
- Demonstrated experience in personal care delivery and supporting older people.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate respectfully with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Commitment to dignity, rights, cultural safety, and person-centred care.
- Understanding of infection prevention and control, WHS, and safeguarding responsibilities.
**Desirable**
- Certificate IV in Ageing Support or equivalent.
- Experience with aged care clinical systems (e.g., BestMED, eCase).
- Previous experience in residential aged care or community/home care.
- Additional language skills relevant to the community.
**Compliance Requirements**
- Current Nationally Coordinated Police Check.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Proof of Australian working rights.
- Immunisation record (including COVID-19, Influenza, and other required vaccinations).
- Commitment to Code of Conduct for Aged Care.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Casual
Pay: $24.95 - $42.71 per hour
