Specialist Mental Health Services
This role offers a unique opportunity for a passionate and experienced
Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
to provide high-quality, person-centred care to individuals accessing the service.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist mental health services, including short to medium term episodes of care to meet the mental health needs of people accessing the service. This will involve:
Prescribing medications in accordance with the consumer care plan and within scope of practice
Providing brief evidence-based psychological interventions (i.e. Psychoeducation) and therapeutic management for individuals and groups in consultation with the multidisciplinary team
Supporting family members, significant others, healthcare professionals, and support staff as appropriate
The role also has the potential for delivering therapeutic interventions, giving the candidate the opportunity to develop or build therapeutic skills in a highly supported team setting, including access to clinical supervision.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
Registration as a Nurse Practitioner (endorsed Mental Health) with the relevant national regulatory body, along with a current annual practicing certificate from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
A Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner)
A Current Prescriber Number & Credentialed status with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses
Demonstrated clinical competence as per the national competency standards for Nurse Practitioners and experience as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Demonstrated knowledge of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standard
Demonstrated experience in the provision of crisis care
