In this vital role, you will provide high-quality counselling services that support the psychological, emotional, and physical wellbeing of our students across both Primary and Secondary levels.
Working as part of a dedicated, multidisciplinary Wellbeing Team, you will contribute to a caring and supportive school environment where every student is encouraged to thrive.The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the Heads of School, CREST Psychologist, and our Educational Support Team to ensure a coordinated, student-centred approach to wellbeing.This part time permanent position will commence on 6 October 2025 working 22.8 hours per week.
There may be potential for an increase in hours in the future, subject to organisational requirements and mutual agreement.Key Responsibilities:Provide short-term counselling, risk assessments, crisis intervention, and case management to support the emotional and psychological wellbeing of students.Collaborate with the Wellbeing Team to assess and support students with behavioural, social, and emotional needs.Assist students in achieving their academic, personal, and career goals, and support those at risk of disengagement.Deliver counselling in individual and group settings and liaise with external agencies to ensure coordinated care and clear referral pathways.Communicate proactively with staff and families to identify and support students' social-emotional needs.Promote a whole-school approach to wellbeing and contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive school culture.Organise and participate in parent and staff information sessions and support school-wide wellbeing initiatives.Work collaboratively with teaching staff, contributing to wellbeing policy development and offering professional learning on wellbeing practicesApply a range of age-appropriate interventions and restorative practices, with awareness of confidentiality, ethical conduct, and legal obligations.The successful candidate will have:Successful completion of an Australian Counselling Association (ACA) approved qualification in counselling or youth workCurrent membership with a relevant professional association for psychology, counselling, social work, or youth work.Proven experience counselling children and adolescents in an educational or youth-focused setting.Proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and/or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Sound understanding of learning disabilities and how they impact student wellbeing.Demonstrated ability to conduct wellbeing and risk assessments and implement appropriate responses.Strong written communication skills, including the ability to maintain professional documentation and case notes.CREST Education is a child safe employer and is committed to the welfare of children and their protection.
