About Artlink
Artlink connects contemporary art, ideas and people. Founded in 1981, Artlink is a themed magazine, with three print issues per year and online platforms that cover contemporary art and ideas from Australia and Asia-Pacific. Artlink provides one of few paid work opportunities for arts writers and editors. Championing excellence across the field, we commission, and mentor established and emerging writers, ensuring fair pay rates, and facilitate professional development, networking and collaboration.
Our work elevates the visual arts sector's visibility. Quality art writing and criticism expands audiences, increases access, and facilitates critical engagement with key cultural ideas and developments of our time. Artlink's work is topical, setting the agenda and generating dialogue through critical reviews, profiles and tributes, opinion pieces, provocations, features and special publishing projects. Our publishing is image rich, promoting the work of Australian artists at all career stages. Since 2010, Artlink has published an annual Indigenous issue, promoting the work of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, writers and editors. This issue has become a defining feature of Artlink's offering and identity.
Based in Tarntanya / Adelaide, Artlink engages an informed readership nationwide and with growing international reach. This is made possible through our dedicated core team and established connections to a dynamic arts community; collaboration and consultation is built into our method. We foster diverse voices and multicultural, social and gender diversity, to showcase experimental, emerging, interdisciplinary, and cross-cultural practices alongside critical perspectives on mainstream visual art events.
Artlink Australia is a non-profit company limited by guarantee and funded by state and federal agencies. We are a small team, with part-time, casual and off-site staff, however the General Manager will work from our office in the Adelaide Central School of Art in the Glenside Cultural Precinct, on the edge of the Adelaide CBD.
