**The Opportunity**

Join Austal Ships in the Piping and Mechanical production department contributing to a high-quality on time work output while maintaining a safe, clean, and productive environment. You'll be accountable for your own safety and that of your other work colleagues with a focus on improving your own and the team's productivity through identifying continuous improvement opportunities in your role. **What's involved**
- Install Ducting and other components for high-efficiency HVAC systems.
- Fabricate and alter parts on site using various tools such as shears, hammers, punches, or drills.
- Lay out, measure, and mark dimensions and reference lines using tools like calculators, scribes, dividers, squares, or rulers.
- Assemble components using methods such as welding, bolting, cementing, riveting, soldering, caulking, or bonding.
- Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, or smooth surfaces, seams, or joints of assembled parts using hand tools or portable power tools.
- Inspect individual parts, assemblies, or installations to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Determine project requirements such as scope, assembly sequences, and materials using drawings, or written or verbal instructions.
- Select appropriate gauges or types of sheet metal or non-metallic material according to product specifications.
- Install assemblies including flashing, pipes, tubes, and heating and air conditioning ducts.

**You'll need**
- Trade qualifications in sheet metal fabrication or 2 years of experience in a sheet metal/ducting installation.
- 2 years of experience in duct installing in a similar industry.
- Proficiency in determining project requirements from drawings or instructions.
- Experience with various assembly methods such as welding, bolting, and riveting.
- Ability to use hand tools and portable power tools for finishing surfaces and joints.
- Competence in selecting and using different gauges and types of materials.
- Skills in fabricating parts and measuring dimensions accurately.
- Understanding of organisational policies, business standards, procedures/work instructions, and guidelines, including HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) and HR policies.
