**Clinical Educator - NICU (Grade 5)**
**Ongoing - 32 hours per week**

**Clinical Education Program**
The Clinical Education Program supports the hospital to achieve its strategic directions by the provision of frameworks for the professional development of health professionals. The Clinical Education Program supports the growth and maintenance of the future nursing and midwifery workforce through coordination of the nursing and midwifery pre-registration, graduate, Transition to Specialty Practice (TSP) and specialty post-graduate programs. The Clinical Education Program has a core role in the design and delivery of innovative nursing and midwifery workforce programs. The Clinical Education Program further collaborates with other health professional groups to promote best practice clinical learning environments (BPCLE) across the organization
**Newborn Intensive and Special Care (NICU)**
The Women's Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is one of five tertiary level units in Melbourne who together with Monash Medical Centre (MMC), Mercy Women's Hospital (MWH), Joan Kirner (JK) and Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) care for the most critically unwell babies across Victoria. The Women's provides specialist care to approximately 1600 premature and medically unwell babies per year with over 695 of those cared for in intensive care. The unit has a key role in providing education and training for local, national and international health professionals and is also a leading international contributor to neonatal research, with a strong focus on translating research findings into clinical practice. The unit has been designed with both intensive and special care nursery pods and has a total of 62 cots. The NICU model of care is built on keeping mothers and babies together and is underpinned by several principles which were developed to improve consistency and continuity of care and to strengthen and support the engagement of families as essential members of the care team.
**Your contribution**
The Clinical Educator (NICU) is a pivotal learning and education leadership position. This position has direct leadership of the Clinical Support Nurse (CSN) and Grade 4 Educator NICU team. The position is responsible for the development and delivery of a program of neonatal professional development for midwifery/nursing staff across the organisation (with a focus on NICU services) that promotes family centred care and meets strategic unit and organisational needs.
Your duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Deliver and support an employed post graduate NICU student program
- Deliver and support The Women's Early Career programs in NICU
- Role model exceptional clinical care in the NICU
- Develop and deliver programs that bring mothers and babies together
**About you**
To be successful within this role you will need to have:
- Registered Nurse with recent and extensive experience in NICU
- Post graduate certificate/diploma/masters in Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU)
- Previous experience in a leadership and/or a senior education role (At minimum of Grade 4 level)
