**Position Description - Technical Officer - Transport**

**Purpose**
The Technical Officer - Transport will provide support with investigations into traffic, transport,
parking, walking and cycling and road infrastructure for the delivery of traffic engineering
Strong communication skills, and the ability to develop and maintain collaborative
relationships with internal and external stakeholders will be vital to this role.
As an ongoing commitment to the organisation you will be responsible for delivering quality
services to our community and to improve residents' quality life; continuously, smartly and
efficiently in the scope of your daily work.
**Key Deliverables**
- Assist the team to undertake investigations into traffic and parking, developing
solutions and make recommendations within the scope of delegated authority, ensuring
compliance with relevant Acts, Regulations, Standards and Code of Practices.
- Undertake the technical work to assist with planning, prioritisation and preparation of
Capital Works Programs for the renewal, maintenance and creation of Transport Assets.
- Provide technical advice to the public, other departments within Council, other Councils,
external stakeholders and Government Departments in relation to traffic and parking
management issues.
- Implement actions and recommendations associated to City of Marion's transport
related strategic plans and Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) studies (Such as the
Walking Cycling Guidelines, Transport Plan and Asset Management Plans)
- Provide support and technical advice on various engineering infrastructure projects,
consultations, investigations and audits.
- Plan, schedule and deploy Councils rotational speed radar device - Evolis Unit
- Provide high level support to the Coordinator - Transport and Unit Manager
- Engineering in the management of Council's infrastructure services.

Essential criteria
- Sound communication skills both written and verbal
- Obtained a Diploma in Civil Engineering or relevant discipline
- Traffic Engineering experience
- Workzone Traffic Management - Statement of Attainment
