Waggrakine Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers (AIEO) for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2026.
Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Located on Yamatji Country in Geraldton, Waggrakine PS is a well-established Independent Public School with 394 students enrolled, a third of whom identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

The Role
The role of the AIEO is to improve the educational outcomes of Aboriginal and Islander students by ensuring they receive the educational and cultural support they need to feel welcomed, respected, understood and cared for and providing the skills to achieve academically to the best of their abilities.
AIEO's assist and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, particularly those at risk, through mentoring and pastoral care to ensure their participation and achievement in the school environment.
AIEO's make an important contribution to student progress and achievement through the development and maintenance of positive relationships between staff, students, parents and the community.
They facilitate school and family connections and work closely with students to support student wellbeing, attendance and engagement.
