**About the opportunity**:
Cosy home care has a tremendous opportunity for mental health support workers in Melbourne (specifically in Vermont) to join our vibrant team and provide holistic care and support to the NDIS participant(s) within a purposeful residential facility.

We are seeking an experienced Mental health support worker, who has previously handled complex clients or someone who is suffering from Autism (High to extreme intensity). Can deal with refusal, verbal aggression (shouting/yelling, making threats, lack of patience) and/or destruction of property behaviors (punch or slap walls, throw items).

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
This role will involve:

- Working with NDIS participants diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder client, have vast complexities and require support with everyday activities.
- Assisting him/her with living with complex behavior, participate and engage in social and community activities.
- Delivering quality and client-focused supports in a highly responsive manner.
- Assist participants with maintaining accommodation and being in a shared living space.
- Supporting clients enhances independent living skills.
- Working effectively from an NDIS plan, to achieve identified goals and to facilitate client's needs efficiently.
- Adhering to the policy and procedures of our organisation.
- Assisting with domestic tasks including shopping, cooking, and cleaning.
- Willingness to work with the LGBTQ community.

To be eligible for this position, you **must**:

- have relevant qualifications in Mental Health or Allied Health Fields (diploma level or above)
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in mental health or with clients with Autism
- Experience in a similar role with housing experience (highly desirable)
- be able to drive and own a functional working vehicle that you are happy to transport our clients to their appointment
- be able to support clients to meet their individual goals
- be able to develop skills and encourage independence & healthy relationships
- An understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
- hold current Working With Children's Check
- hold current valid First Aid Certificate
- Own car and have full comprehensive roadworthy vehicle insurance
- Calm, warm, friendly, patient and emotionally resilient
- Gives off a 'relaxed' vibe, does not seem stressed/anxious
- Available: Night shifts 7pm - 7am (weekdays/weekends)

We are offering a set roster. As a successful applicant, you will be assigned to a specific client and provided with a fixed number of shifts per week. The rosters will contain a combination of weekday and weekend shifts as well as flexible hours.
