You will join us as a Project Lead who leads the project engineers team in delivering assigned Tier1-3 recoverable projects. Projects include relocation and protection of gas infrastructure, planning and prioritizing documentation, project design, risk assessments, expenditure estimates and contract management.

This full-time, fixed-term role is suitable for people no longer interested in a FIFO role.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Project Management
- Supports the Engineering Projects team by leading and coordinating the planning, scheduling and delivery of assigned Tier 1-3 Recoverable Projects portfolio, including network construction, alteration, protection and other associated projects.
- Leads recoverable works projects, including preparing planning documents, asset design, risk assessments, expenditure estimates and client management for network protection and relocation works.
- Performance management of the direct reports
- Provide required mentorship to the direct report/junior project engineers
- Provides timely and accurate project management and portfolio reports, including budget management, contract management and performance tracking.
- Provide leadership, support and mentorship to the team in acquiring all materials, services and permits required to complete projects in line with project costs and timelines.
- Coordinates the processing and allocation of invoices and other cost allocations to relevant project cost centres.

Customer Management
- Develops and cultivates relationships, networks and alliances with industry, Government agencies and Contractors to deliver efficient project outcomes.
- Liaises with various groups, including Project Engineers, Drawing Office, Construction, Operations, and other Utilities and Contractors to support the achievement of project objectives.

Engineering and Risk Management
- Applies engineering standards for the design and operation of gas infrastructure with particular emphasis on the evaluation of third-party activities and the project works to maintain the safety and integrity of the gas distribution network.
- Develops, reviews and implements technical drawings, documents, calculations, procedures and work instructions associated with the design, construction, maintenance and operation of the gas distribution network in line with controlled document and compliance processes.
- Provides technical advice related to project engineering services, operations, safety and compliance related to the gas distribution network and associated assets.
- Understands the Risk Management Framework to optimally identify, assess and act on any identified or potential risks, including the development and implementation of controls.

Education, Experience & Skills
- Project management experience coupled with considerable technical knowledge and experience in gas distribution systems, along with strong commercial foresight.
- Qualifications in Project Management and Engineering are desirable.
- Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence, build and maintain strategic networks and undertake negotiations with a range of customers.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral), including the ability to develop technical scopes, project plans, technical documents, procedures and work instructions, and deliver excellent customer service.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to coordinate multiple network construction projects and proven time leadership skills to manage priorities effectively.
- Excellent digital literacy, including utilising various information and project management systems.
