**We are seeking a Teacher Aide to undertake a range of tasks in supporting the needs of students, under the direction of the teacher, in our P-6 classroom.**

**In this role, you will be expected to**:

- Participate in and support the Learning Partnerships Leader with the implementation of a number of programs designed to assist student learning;
- Assist developmentally appropriate student learning, either individually or in groups, under the direct supervision of an academic staff member where limited discretion and judgement are involved;
- Under direct and/or routine supervision, perform tasks of limited complexity, associated with classroom learning experiences, such as assisting teachers in preparing, implementing and supervising learning programs;
- Support developmentally appropriate student learning to engage at risk students, either individually or in groups, under the general supervision of academic teaching staff;
- Provide scribe, one on one reading support, reading aloud and storytelling to students under teacher supervision;
- Maintain anecdotal and routine records on student and classroom activities for use by the classroom teacher;
- Support the routine use of technology and assistive technology when working with students;
- Provide appropriate assistance to students experiencing academic/learning difficulties at school and at home which may put them at risk of leaving school prematurely;
- Contribute to school processes for the referral of at risk students to appropriate college support services that will assist students to overcome barriers to education and training;
- Support special needs students in relation to their physical and personal needs;
- Attend professional development sessions run by the College targeting educational support for special needs students;
- Perform within established routines, tasks associated with printing, copying, collating, filing, binding, document production and other administrative tasks as requested;
- Participate in the Playground Supervision Duty Roster as directed including playground support for special needs students; and
- Attend excursions as directed to provide support to special needs students.

**To be successful in this role, you will be able to meet the following criteria**:

- Ability to organise time and prioritise tasks;
- Good communication skills with both children and adults;
- Ability to accept direction but also exercise initiative when appropriate;
- Flexibility - able to work with students who have varying behavioural and learning challenges on a daily and weekly basis;
- Ability to act and react calmly in stressful situations involving student's behaviour;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all matters relating to the role; and
- Ability to work with special needs students in the classroom, individually or in small groups.

- hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement;
- be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment; and
- have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education.
