**The Project**

We are currently seeking a Rail Safety Coordinator to play a key role in The Level Crossing Removal (LXRP) Project team at SEPA (South Eastern Program Alliance). This position will support the team by facilitating continuous improvement in rail safety management throughout the project and across the Alliance.

This newly created role is an excellent opportunity to be part of a large-scale project which will benefit train users, pedestrians, cyclists and drivers by improving safety, reducing congestion and enabling more frequent train services.

**The Role**

You will provide support to the Rail Safety Manager to ensure compliance to MTM's Safety Management Systems, managing Rail Safety practices and implementation of the Rail Safety Plans, and Alliance / MTM policies and procedures.

**Responsibilities**
- Through conduct of onsite activities and targeted reporting, ensure that rail safety risks associated with Project Works are managed
- Provision of advice on all matters relating to rail safety management and investigating project incidents
- Investigate project incidents
- Ensure all written communication and reports are to a standard acceptable for court evidence
- Review and endorse project safe working arrangements
- Facilitate continuous improvement and innovation of Rail Safety practices/management
- Understand and actively work to achieve KPI's regarding Safety
- Identify, commission and develop a methodology to comply with rail safety operations
- Recognise opportunities to increase efficiency, simplicity and revenue while meeting company and external obligations
- Conduct regular rail safety compliance inspections and high-risk audits in line with the scope of works utilising appropriate systems and procedure tools
- Oversee investigations conducted across the Project and produce relevant reports
- Document management, including recording, monitoring & archiving and producing routine written communications
- Any other duties as specified by the manager

**About You**
- Qualified as a Level 3.3 Track Force Protection Co-ordinator and/or, the Automatic Block Signalling System of Safe working
- Permit to Work Near Recipient
- Lead auditor experience
- ICAM Lead Investigator qualified
- Experience in the implementation of rail safety management systems within the rail construction environment
- Knowledge of the PTC 1994 Book of Rules and Operating Procedures, as it applies to the MTM Network
- Ability to collect, analyse and present workplace data and information
- Talent to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff (verbal and written).
- Competence to identify and analyse risks, and take corrective actions
- Highly organised and resourceful
- Excellent time management and attention to detail to deliver a high standard of work
