Executive Director, Technology Strategy and AssuranceThe Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government.
We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses.
We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.About the roleThe Executive Director, Technology Strategy & Assurance plays a pivotal whole-of-government leadership role in shaping and delivering the Victorian Government's technology strategy.
Reporting to the Deputy Secretary Digital and Government Services, the role provides authoritative advice to Ministers and senior executives, ensuring investment decisions, policies and enterprise architecture align with government priorities.Leading a multi-disciplinary division, the Executive Director oversees the development and assurance of technology systems and resources, fosters strong partnerships with departments, agencies and industry, and drives cross-government collaboration.
This role requires a visionary leader who can set strategic direction, manage risk and build capability to ensure technology solutions deliver lasting value for the Victorian community.As a senior executive, the Executive Director will play a key role in building new strategic capability across government, inspiring innovation, and ensuring that technology is deployed responsibly and sustainably.
This is an opportunity to lead sector-wide transformation, engage with industry at the highest levels, and contribute to shaping how technology supports better services and outcomes for all Victorians.For specific responsibilities review the attached position description.About youTo be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:Demonstrated experience in working at a senior level to shape business strategy and promote innovation and improvement.Demonstrated experience working at a senior executive level to deliver technology and transformation outcomes that aligns with business strategy.Proven experience and demonstrated capacity to identify and address emerging infrastructure, network and platform issues through high-level conceptual analysis, risk management and providing advice to senior stakeholders in a sensitive environment.Demonstrated capacity to lead a range of complex digital and technology projects through partnerships with people across business areas, functions and departments, including whole-of-government projects, and deliver timely and high-quality outcomes.Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver scalable and reusable technology solutions.Proven influencing, negotiation and relationship-management skills in an environment requiring highly developed interpersonal skills, and a proven capacity for highly effective communication with a range of government and non-government stakeholders.Demonstrated effective people management skills and experience to support and create the conditions for highly-functioning, productive and engaged teams.This position is only open to applicants with relevant rights to work in Australia.How to applyApply before the advertised closing date 11:59pm on 21 September 2025.
