**Position Description: Café Barista & Front of House Lead**

**Position Overview**: Come and join our team in the Lower North Shore We are a cafe/restaurant in the heart of Greenwich (10 mins walk from Wollstonecraft station), and are looking for a high energy, motivated Barista, with a passion for coffee and customer service. You will have prior experience as a Barista (essential), but also be ready to be a full team player.

As a Café Barista & Front of House Lead, you will be responsible for crafting and serving high-quality hot and cold drinks (we proudly serve Ona Coffee) and alcoholic beverages, while providing exceptional customer service. Your role will involve preparing espresso-based drinks, maintaining equipment, overseeing front-of-house operations, and contributing to the overall success and reputation of the café. There will also be an opportunity to work evenings (we shall be opening Thursday - Saturday nights from October) when we will be serving food and a bar service.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Coffee Preparation**:

- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages including espresso, cappuccino, latte, and specialty drinks according to recipes and standards.
- Consistently produce high-quality coffee drinks with attention to detail, ensuring the perfect balance of flavour, texture, and presentation.

**Equipment Maintenance**:

- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment, ensuring cleanliness, functionality, and adherence to safety standards.
- Monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot issues as needed, and perform routine maintenance to prolong the lifespan and efficiency of coffee-making equipment.

**Customer Service**:

- Welcome customers warmly, engage with them in a friendly and professional manner, and provide knowledgeable recommendations on coffee selections.
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, process payments, and ensure timely delivery of orders to meet customer expectations.

**Quality Control**:

- Maintain consistent standards of coffee quality, including grind size, extraction time, milk texture, and beverage presentation, to ensure customer satisfaction with every cup.
- Monitor coffee freshness, inventory levels, and supply orders to minimize waste and ensure a steady supply of fresh coffee beans and other ingredients.

**Team Collaboration**:

- Work collaboratively with café staff members to coordinate orders, manage customer flow, and maintain cleanliness and organisation in the café environment.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate food orders and ensure efficient service during peak periods.

**Front-of-House Responsibilities**:

- Ensure the café's front-of-house area is clean, organised, and visually appealing at all times.
- Manage the customer seating area by organising tables, chairs, and décor to create a welcoming atmosphere.
- Assist with clearing tables, cleaning surfaces, and resetting areas promptly to accommodate new customers.
- Monitor customer traffic and manage wait times effectively, ensuring a smooth flow of customers in and out of the café.
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive customer experience.
- Assist with promoting daily specials, new menu items, and café events to customers.
- Lead and supervise front-of-house staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high standards of service and efficiency.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Previous experience as a Barista in a café or coffee shop environment is essential.
- Proficiency in espresso preparation techniques, including dialing in espresso shots, steaming milk, and latte art.
- RSA - Responsible Service of Alcohol competency is required.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact with customers courteously and professionally.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities with a positive attitude and willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues.
- Basic knowledge of coffee bean varieties, origins, and flavour profiles is desirable.
- Leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate front-of-house staff.
- Valid right to work in Australia is essential.

Pay: $29.04 - $34.85 per hour
