Your contribution and key responsibilities
- Develop and deliver high-quality media materials and activities, including talking points, speeches, media releases, articles, media reporting and advice, ensuring sound research and accuracy, often under tight deadlines.
- Identify proactive media and social media opportunities, supporting the Communications team to produce written content for use across digital channels (social media, website, newsletter), publications, and internal communications.
- Work collaboratively with members of the department's Strategic Communications team to plan and implement strategic media activities.
- Liaise with and develop strong, positive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain up to date contacts, research techniques and an operational knowledge of current affairs, particularly as they relate to the business of government and the priorities and programs of the government of the day.
- Be highly organised, and able to manage competing deadlines in a high-pressure environment, while maintaining accuracy.
What we are looking for.......
- A proactive and detail-oriented media professional with strong analytical, writing and communication skills.
- You will have experience in media monitoring and response, speechwriting, and stakeholder engagement.
- An understanding of Queensland's culturally and linguistically diverse communities and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, issues-rich environment is essential.
- There are no mandatory requirements for this role. However, relevant qualification/s in a communication related area (i.e. Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing) or demonstrated experience in a media environment is highly desirable.
