what duties can you expect to do?
Inspect and prepare the tractor and slasher before starting work (fuel, oil, hydraulics, tyres, blades).
Conduct a site risk assessment to identify hazards such as rocks, rubbish, uneven ground, or hidden obstacles.
Set cutting height and adjust slasher equipment for the required finish and to avoid scalping the land.
Operate the tractor and slasher safely to clear grass, weeds, and light scrub over large areas.
Maintain consistent slashing patterns (e.g., overlapping passes) to ensure even coverage.
Navigate slopes, uneven ground, and tight areas while maintaining safe operation.
Dispose of or spread slashings appropriately, ensuring compliance with site or environmental requirements.
Carry out minor maintenance and cleaning on the slasher (sharpen/replace blades, grease fittings, clear debris).
Record work completed (hectares/areas slashed, hours worked, fuel use) for reporting.
Follow all safety protocols and traffic management requirements when working near roads, fences, or public spaces.
