Location: Newcastle, NSW, Australia. Employment type: Permanent, Part-time (0.4 FTE). Closing on: Aug 31, 2025.
Responsibilities
Perform clinical services for inpatients admitted under the Gastroenterology Service and participate in bed allocation, transfer of care, and patient flow in accordance with hospital requirements.
Provide specialist consultation, including outpatient services.
Provide clinical leadership to junior colleagues to maintain high standards of patient care, based on best practice and evidence.
Demonstrate a commitment to equity in health care delivery.
About You / Qualifications
Primary Medical Degree registrable with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), with recognised qualifications in Gastroenterology or equivalent.
Current gastroenterology practice including endoscopy; ability to adapt to contemporary evidence-based best practice.
Capacity for clinical leadership and willingness to contribute to undergraduate/postgraduate teaching and clinical research.
Understanding of clinical governance to promote quality and safety, with experience in evidence-based practice.
Understanding of transfer of care and patient flow principles aligned to community and hospital needs.
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team, including periods of high demand.
