
Disability Support Worker

**JOB SCOPE**:The Disability Support Worker will provide high-quality support and care to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their needs are met and they achieve their personal goals. This role involves assisting with daily living activities, promoting independence, and ensuring the well-being of participants in accordance with NDIS guidelines.
**FINANCIAL DELEGATION**: Must seek approval from Upper Management for all expenses.
**MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with disabilities, including assistance with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility.
- Support participants in accessing community resources and participating in social and recreational activities.
- Implement individual support plans and behaviour support plans as directed.
- Monitor and report on the progress and well-being of participants, including documenting any changes or incidents.
- Complete progress reports post each shift within a 48 hour time period.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes the independence and empowerment of participants.
- Assist with medication administration and management as required.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with NDIS requirements and organizational policies.
- Communicate effectively with participants, families, and other stakeholders to ensure coordinated and holistic support.
- Attend and participate in assigned training and professional development activities to maintain and enhance skills whenever required.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and within specified timeframes.
- Adhere to all relevant legislation, standards, and ethical guidelines.
**QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**
**Qualifications**:
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Relevant training in medication administration (preferred).
- Need to have Police Check, WWCC, driver's license, 100 points of ID, vehicle for travel, insurance on vehicle, NDIS Orientation Module Cert, Infection Control Module Cert
**Skills**:
- Strong understanding of the needs and rights of individuals with disabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with participants, families, and professionals.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with participants and their support networks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond calmly in emergency situations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using technology for documentation and communication.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of confidentiality and professionalism.
**Experience**:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a disability support or related role.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities and understanding their specific needs.
- Experience in implementing individual support plans and behaviour support plans.
- Experience working within the NDIS framework (preferred).
**PERFORMANCE GOALS**:
- Ensure all support and care provided to participants is of the highest standard and meets their individual needs.
- Maintain 100% compliance with Wafa Care's policies and procedures.
- Achieve high levels of participant satisfaction through effective communication and quality support.
- Continuously improve skills and knowledge through professional development.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with NDIS requirements.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes the independence and empowerment of participants.
**Job Types**: Part-time, Subcontract, Casual, Seasonal
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 3 - 45 per week
