In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and developing backend web systems, primarily working with Python-based frameworks.
You will also work as part of cross-functional teams, collaborating with product managers, designers, delivery, and fellow engineers.
In addition to supporting established software systems, you will also contribute to new product development initiatives.The role will suit a mid-level software engineer with a growth mindset who enjoys a challenge and is excited to develop their skills in a new environment.
Ideally you'll have experience working as part of cross-functional product teams in early stage environments and an appreciation for customer and market needs and how what you are building impacts customer experience.This role will be Melbourne based, with an expectation of working from our Collingwood office for one or two days per week to enable in person collaboration with your people leader.You could be the one if you have Experience working as a mid-level software engineer, ideally within an early stage product environmentExperience working with Python, especially a web framework like Django, Flask or FastAPIExperience working with SQL databases, such as sqlite or Postgres and basic knowledge of SQL and database queryingFlexibility to perform a diverse range of tasks, from supporting existing software systems to building entirely new productsAn understanding that software needs to respond to customer and market needsExperience with basic software development and agile tooling like Git, JiraAn understanding of the hardware and software components of web applications, especially those deployed on AWSExperience working as a part of cross functional teams.
Capable of collaborating effectively with product managers, designers and other engineersExperience with CI/CD tooling (e.g. CircleCI) or infrastructure as code (e.g. CDK, Terraform) will be highly regarded but is not essentialWhat we offerWe promote a friendly, human work environment, providing you with the support, tools and resources to flourish in your role.
