Sustained members of our team demonstrate accountable behavior and share our values of customer service, innovation, integrity, inclusion, financial stewardship, leadership and care.The Driver - CDL provides transportation for residents and patients in accordance with company standards and federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure that transportation is provided in a clean, safe, and timely manner.Essential Activities and TasksProvides efficient transportation services to individuals and groups, driving vehicles safely according to schedule.Maintains a clean vehicle, checking the inside regularly, picking up trash, and vacuuming as needed.
Takes vehicle to car wash and cleans outside of vehicle as assigned.Observes safety and security procedures while transporting residents/patients.Notifies supervisor of any changes and/or cancellations in the daily transportation schedule.Willingly and consistently shares observations and insights of departmental operations that may improve quality and efficiencies.Attends all-employee and departmental meetings and in-service training as scheduled or as directed.Asset and Materials Management - 20%Maintains a safe vehicle and performs vehicle inspections as directed.Reports repairs, service needs, and unsafe conditions to supervisor.Uses downtime constructively for vehicle cleaning and light maintenance.Administration and Reporting - 20%Maintains current and accurate records through use of computers and/or other documentation in accordance with standards and regulations.Completes logs, reports, and other documentation accurately and submits to supervisor.Care Management and Service Delivery - 10%Listens and responds to the needs of residents/patients and staff members.Greets and assists residents/patients in and out of the vehicles as needed.All other duties as assigned.QualificationsEducationHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Completion of the Ohio Department of Aging DRIVE and defensive driving courses or willingness to complete.Completion or willingness to complete the Federal Transportation Administration drug and alcohol reasonable suspicion and post-accident training program if applicable.Minimum four-hour Defensive Driving Certification through the National Safety Council or willingness to obtain.ExperienceFive years of commercial driving experience required.Knowledge of state and federal driving laws and regulations required.Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and the internet preferred.Other RequirementsMust be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Must be insurable under insurance policies.Class C Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement.Must be at least 23 years of age.Working Conditions and Special RequirementsSitting - Up to 8 hours/dayStanding - Up to 2 hours/dayWalking - Up to 4 hours/dayLifting, transferring, pushing or pulling residents/patients or equipment/supplies - Up to 50 poundsDriving - Up to 8 hours/dayWork weekends, evenings, and holidays as scheduled.Subject to falls, burns, odors, cuts, and exposure to infectious waste and diseases including HIV and Hepatitis B.Our 11 life plan communities offer a range of options from independent living to skilled nursing.
