Our client specializes in the design and construction of turnkey solutions for water industry challenges. With a long history and significant project portfolio in brownfields construction of civil, process and mechanical upgrades and refurbishments we are able to work with our clients to understand and then respond to their needs implementing both small and immediate solutions as large multi-faceted construction projects. Utilizing our own team of engineers, project managers and trades we are able to eliminate interfaces, reducing project risks and drive delivery costs down.
**ABOUT THE POSITION**
As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all engineering activities related to water infrastructure projects. Your role will involve leading a team of engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful planning, design, construction, and maintenance of water-related projects. Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
- Lead and manage the execution of water sector engineering projects from inception to completion.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure successful project delivery.
- Monitor progress, identify potential risks, and implement strategies to address project challenges.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Supervise and mentor a team of engineers, providing guidance, support, and opportunities for professional growth.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork and knowledge sharing.
- Conduct performance evaluations and facilitate training programs to enhance team members' skills and capabilities.
Technical Expertise:
- Utilize your in-depth knowledge of water infrastructure, treatment processes, and distribution systems to provide technical guidance and expertise to the team.
- Review and approve engineering designs, calculations, and documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that all projects comply with relevant environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Implement quality control procedures to maintain high standards in project delivery.
Stakeholder Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, government agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide engineering solutions that meet their needs.
Budget and Resource Management:
- Oversee project budgets and resource allocation to optimize project outcomes while controlling costs.
- Identify potential cost-saving measures and implement efficient resource management strategies.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in water sector engineering technologies and practices.
- Encourage innovation within the team and implement best practices to enhance project outcomes.
**Essential Criteria**:
- 10 years of experience in Mechanical, Process Engineering or Design Engineering
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Extensive experience in the water sector with progressively increasing responsibility, including experience in project management and team leadership.
- Strong knowledge of water infrastructure, treatment technologies, and distribution systems.
- Consulting background is advantageous.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory standards and environmental regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex engineering challenges.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
