Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Fruit Farm Worker to join their team located in Mareeba located in Far North Queensland.
Responsibilities
Duties required to be performed by the employee in this position include but are strictly limited to :
Consistently check irrigation channels to ensure appropriate amounts of water are supplied to trees for growth
Ensure soil is adequately fertilised and trees are regularly pruned
Apply chemicals or pesticides to trees to prevent, growth of weeds, disease, or damage causes by any pests, where necessary
Plant new trees using relevant tools or machinery, where directed by farm manager
Any other duties as directed by farm manager in relation to the care of the trees and soil conditions to improve growth
May assist with harvesting ripe fruits using farming machinery and disposing of any bad fruits, when short-staffed during peak periods
Qualifications
Minimum AQF Certificate III or higher qualification
Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Fruit Farm Worker
Ability to perform duties with limited supervision and to required standard
Knowledge of pack shed operations and quality assurance highly desirable
Previous experience working in lime orchard highly desirable
Ability to operate farm machinery such as forklifts, tractors and sprayers highly regarded
Must have own transport and driver's licence.
