The biggest property in the portfolio is Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and its well-known Wildlife Hospital.
Since its creation in 1989, Currumbin Wildlife Hospital has grown to be one of the busiest wildlife hospitals in the world, now treating over 15,000 animals every year. In addition, the hospital provides veterinary care to the Sanctuary animal collection and conducts world-leading research and conservation projects, often working collaboratively with high level partners. **Position details & duties**
- Responsible for providing veterinary care to Australian Wildlife, including clinical and surgical duties as level of experience allows. Â
- Undertake laboratory diagnostic procedures, including sample collection and storage.
- Calculate, prepare and administer medications, including anaesthetics.
- Demonstrate and undertake safe capture and restraint techniques of both native and exotic species.Â
- Undertake associated administrative duties including recording and maintaining clinical treatment files and laboratory diagnostic test results.
- Assist and participate in research projects.
- No afterhours work required
- Some weekend work involved
- Pay rate according to the Animal Care and Veterinary Award
**Selection Criteria**:
- Must hold minimum qualification of BVSc or equivalent registered in Queensland.
- Veterinary wildlife experience preferred.
- Can demonstrate a highly flexible, cooperative and positive attitude.
- Has high level of time management and organisational skills.
- Has a professional approach to duties and standard of personal presentation.
- Have very capable computer skills.
- Current driver's licence desirable.
- Can liaise and communicate in a friendly and effective manner with all key internal department staff including volunteers and external local community groups and associated veterinary contacts.
- Must be comfortable in meeting all necessary vaccination requirements for the role.
