BASScare is a NFP which operates an integrated program of services including meals-on-wheels, residential care facilities, respite care, dementia specific services, retirement living, disability services, opportunity shop as well as planned activity groups at day centres, for older people who wish to remain active and engaged with their local communities.

BASScare's residential facility Samarinda Lodge, located in the leafy suburb of Ashburton, is currently seeking a talented, committed and experienced casual Laundry Assistant.

**The Role**

The Laundry Assistant provides timely, skilled and customer focused laundry service to our residents at the Lodge. The Laundry Assistant is responsible for the laundering of facility linen, resident's personal clothing and for the smooth operation of laundry services.

Some of the duties include:

- Routine linen and residents' personal laundry services.
- Ensure requests for urgent laundering assigned to this role are responded to in a timely manner.
- Monitor the cleanliness of facility cushions and launder when required.
- Ensure laundry services are provided in a manner that meets infection control best practice principles.
- Deliver, collect and return to resident items that require dry cleaning
- Label residents clothing items when known prior to returning to residents' rooms.
- Manage lost property and take unclaimed items to our Op-Shop.
- Maintain tidy linen store and work area
- Maintain required documentation relating to laundry.

**Requirements**:

- Prior experience in laundry services, in residential care or similar environment is desirable
- Demonstrated experience in ability to plan, organise and prioritise work, in an environment with multiple and conflicting demands.
- Initiative and the ability to work without direct supervision.
- Able to meet the physical requirements of the role.
- Basic computer skills (Office Word & Excel).
- Current Satisfactory Police Check or NDIS Worker Screening Check

**Hours of work and location**

Casual position

Shifts that are regularly available to work are:
8 - 3 pm Thursday, Friday

8 - 1 pm Saturday, Sunday
