**Description**:
About the Role

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager the Quality Assurance Officer is responsible for the provision of QA Laboratory services to the site to ensure compliance and verification of products, materials and processes associated with the manufacture of finished goods and WIP products. The position also provides support for food safety certification processes and VQM compliance in the form of internal auditing, document control and assistance with navigating through external third-party audit assessments where required.

This role is initially a fixed-term contract for 6 months. Depending on prevailing business circumstances at the time, there may be an opportunity to convert into a permanent role at the end of the fixed term.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provision of all laboratory based services to the site for the purpose of measuring product and process compliance and food safety. This includes sensory evaluations and microbiological assessments.
- Manage stock levels for al laboratory consumable items.
- Timely recording and reporting of testing results.
- Proactive support and participation in continuous improvement activities such as proficiency testing programs, identifying waste or investigating improvements in testing processes.
- Provide support and leadership to production personnel on quality especially regarding food safety, product and process compliance and GMP.
- Ensure all related documentation is correct and completed each day.
- Maintenance of retention samples.
- Oversee critical processing parameters to ensure yoghurt quality control.
- Internal auditing of processes and procedures.

**Skills and Experiences**:
Skills and Experience
- Formal qualifications in food science or equivalent would be preferred, but not essential if the person has relevant experience.
- Prior experience in a food testing laboratory would be highly regarded as would recent graduates with a food science qualification.
- Good communication skills in both written and verbal forms with production personnel, peers and managers.
- Good organisational skills to manage workload and priorities.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Proficient in the MS Office suite.
