About the roleAs a Managing Tax Counsel, you will be accountable for delivery of Fund investments tax outcomes.
You will be accountable to supervise, coach and develop team members providing domestic and offshore investment structure tax advice, and meeting the compliance obligations associated with those investments.
You will also be accountable for the continuous improvement of this function, and the development of appropriate supporting tax policies and practices.
Day to day, you'll:Deliver tax advice, tax filings, etc., outcomes within the required timeframes.Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including:ART investment team membersExternal advisors (local and offshore)Service providers such as custodiansInternal functions such as our governance and finance teams.Stay up to date with tax developments relevant to investment structures and brief relevant tax team members and stakeholders accordingly.Ensure ART tax controls are effective and functioning as intended.Support ART and industry submissions to Government on tax design (as agreed with your leader).
Ensure compliance with revenue authority reporting and payment obligations, or support others in meeting these obligations through your deliverables.Lead, mentor, and develop assigned tax team members.Maintain and update tax technical guides, process maps, and operating procedures for Fund investment processes and governance.Escalate any unacceptable tax risks or issues affecting team effectiveness to your leader.Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the tax team and across ART where possible.This role is available as a permanent/ full-time opportunity.

It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too: A relevant qualification in legal, accounting, business or commerce.Demonstrated experience in delivery of tax advisory and compliance services related to significant value investments in Australia and offshore.Experience in either within a professional services firm or major corporate or fund environment including knowledge and experience of tax effect accounting.Experience in leading and mentoring staff to successfully achieve organisational objectives.A highly developed ability to provide advice, options and support to senior management and other key stakeholders to ensure the integration of strategic business and financial processes.Excellent influencing skills, well-developed communication skills and a high degree of initiative and motivation.About usOur 2.4 million members trust us to take care of over $330 billion in retirement savings.
