Responsibilities
Lead operations of Lifeblood's Victorian Transplantation and Immunogenetics Services laboratory.
Lead the efficient delivery of critical testing and matching services that support transplantation, immunogenetics and HLA compatibility.
Contribute to operational planning, drive performance, innovation and successful change initiatives.
Shape strategy as part of the TIS leadership team, champion continuous learning, and support research and development initiatives.
Keep the laboratory audit-ready and fully accredited; empower staff and deliver excellence in service.
Collaborate with scientific, clinical and laboratory teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.
Qualifications and experience
Proven leadership in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment, with experience leading large, technical and/or scientific teams.
Strong financial management skills—budgeting, cost control and business planning.
A people-first approach, with the ability to inspire, motivate and foster continuous improvement and quality outcomes.
Hands-on experience in recruitment, training, rostering and performance management.
Clear and confident communication skills—able to make complex information simple for any audience.
Senior-level experience managing multidisciplinary scientific services.
Solid understanding of quality systems, risk management and compliance, including regulators, WHS and environmental standards.
Skilled in project and change management, with the confidence to make swift decisions while working as part of a national team.
A strong focus on employee wellbeing and adaptability in a constantly evolving environment.
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (such as Laboratory Management, Operations, Biomedical Science or Business).
Details
Permanent full-time position based out of Lifeblood's Melbourne Processing Centre.
