Job DescriptionUser Researchers design, organise, participate in, and carry out user-centred research.
They develop a deep understanding of users and advocate for recommendations that enhance user experiences with services.
They use research findings to solve problems for users and teams/Agencies.
They may contribute to creating prototypes for user testing.Dedicated and experienced User Research professionals are needed to lead and inspire teams to deliver evidence-based, effective, accessible, connected Government products and services, such as Digital ID and myGov.The role requires applying best practice research methodologies to support multi-disciplinary teams working within the Whole of Government Service, Design, and Delivery process (SDDP).
RequirementsKey duties and responsibilitiesA.
Duties may include some or all of the following:Lead and manage the delivery of user research projects and usability testing.Guide a team to develop research artefacts.Facilitate user research workshops and discussions with customers to gather critical information for improving customer experience.Analyse and synthesise complex findings to understand user experience, needs, and motivations, leading to insights and opportunities.Transform complex findings into impactful and actionable artefacts in various formats to inform decision-making.Develop and maintain effective relationships within the agency, sharing insights and opportunities for positive results.Collaborate as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to deliver outcomes.Work within an MDT to lead and provide evidence supporting outcomes.B.
Knowledge / qualifications that are desirable:More than 5 years experience in user research.Extensive knowledge and understanding of:Human-centred design, research ethics, and diversity and cultural sensitivities.Various user research methods and their appropriate application.Relevant business systems and tools.RequirementsEssential criteria:Proven track record of delivering technology products in large organisations.Understanding of what constitutes a great developer experience for external users.Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams following agile and user-centred design practices.Experience working on large Government transformation programs is highly regarded.Desirable criteria:Knowledge, experience, and relationships within the agriculture technology industry.Experience delivering technology to support regulatory decision-making processes.Experience delivering to the Australian Government Digital Service Standard.
