About us
The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) is responsible for the provision of in-house legal services across the Department of Justice and Community Safety, to the Attorney-General as First Law Officer, and to other DJCS Ministers.
The team leads the delivery of legal services on commercial and regulatory matters for DJCS. OGC is looking for aVPS3 Legal Adviser who is a strong communicator, demonstrates technical excellence and is a team player.
You will be part of high performing legal team with a shared passion for ensuring a supportive and collegiate working environment.

About you
We are looking for lawyers who possess a desire to provide sophisticated, authoritative, concise, and solutions-focused advice in commercial and regulatory matters. Key accountabilities include:

- presenting clear, factual and relevant written and verbal information based on knowledge, research and interpretation/analysis of data
- confidently conveying verbal legal or policy information clearly and responding effectively to the relevant audience
- balancing competing workload and deadlines
- preparing legal documentation
- proactively sharing information, knowledge and skills to other team members
- working effectively with other team members and manager(s)

Applicants must be admitted, or eligible to be admitted, to practice as a legal practitioner in Victoria.

At interview stage and prior to commencement of employment with the department, you will need to provide evidence that you are vaccinated against COVID-19 with three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Upon commencement of employment with the department you will be required to provide evidence that you have an up-to-date vaccination status within the timelines specified by the department into the DJCS Service Portal. This includes evidence of three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine required by the department (from time to time).
