Lead Data Engineer
Australia's energy future is at a critical juncture, and your expertise in machine learning engineering will be instrumental in shaping it.
As Lead Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, training, comparing, evaluating, deploying, and documenting machine learning solutions using the latest advancements. Your role will be to write robust Python code for novel machine learning use cases and match the most appropriate machine learning approaches to engineering problems.
You will work closely with end-users and subject matter experts (SMEs), who are highly technical, such as electrical engineers and analysts in Operations.
Your team works on developing cutting-edge engineering apps and real-time analytics tools that help control rooms make sense of in-streaming data by combining and visualising many different data sources intelligently.
About The Role
The AEMO control rooms monitor and operate the electricity grids and gas grids 24/7.
With AI trending relentlessly, and the integration of renewables providing a steady stream of challenges to solve, there has never been a more exciting time to be in the thick of it.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Learning Engineering
Design, build, train, compare, evaluate, deploy, and document machine learning solutions.
Write robust Python code for novel machine learning use cases.
Match the most appropriate machine learning approaches to engineering problems.
Data Management
Create and maintain metadata for Operations data sources in the data catalogue and data virtualisation environments.
You will be part of a dynamic team that grapples with the idiosyncrasies of many ML projects and wears the scars proudly.
We're looking for someone who stands their ground when faced with hairy maths and dense academic papers, because their curiosity and excitement to solve problems always wins out.
An ability to sync up with our team's subtle but quirky sense of humour would be a bonus.
Plus the ability to shrug off the inevitable hurdles with a bit of tongue-in-cheek mockery, then quietly forging ahead.
