Public Sector People is working with a local Council on the north side of Brisbane.

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Planning Officer to join our Strategic Infrastructure Planning Department for a 3 to 4-month contract + extension as a Recreation Planning Officer.

You will be responsible for implementing strategic projects, reviews, and evaluations related to recreation and open space planning, including community and stakeholder consultation, research, data collection and analysis, report writing, and presenting findings to the department and external stakeholders.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Implement strategic projects, reviews, and evaluations related to recreation and open space planning
- Maintain accurate and timely records of works carried out in accordance with Council systems and policies
- Draft reports for Executive and Council meetings and briefings and attend meetings as required
- Work as an effective team member across the Department to ensure integration between the strategic, capital delivery, and operations management functions of the Department
- Participate in cross-branch initiatives of Council to influence recreation and open space outcomes to the benefit of the community
- Assist and advise on the strategic planning objectives within the Recreation and Open Space Department and prepare associated reports
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders, consultants, and contractors
- Manage assigned projects and act as a project team member on other projects as directed
- Undertake project scoping and planning in consultation with key stakeholders, including developing project budgets and implementation plans

- Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines for delivery
- Ability to prioritize and focus on tasks to complete in appropriate timeframes
- Experience with GIS beneficial

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Experience in planning for recreation, open space, or social infrastructure, including consultation, research, data analysis, and strategy development
- Experience in policy analysis and development, especially in the fields of recreation, sport, and social infrastructure development
- Tertiary qualifications in recreation and open space planning, leisure studies, urban planning, or equivalent
- Ideally have Government experience in either local state of federal government.

If you have a passion for recreation and open space planning, along with experience working as a Recreation Planning Officer and have Qualifications in either Open space planning or Urban design will be highly regarded.

You will have excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and timelines for delivery.
