We are seeking applicants for the role of Research Scientist – Behavioural Science.
If you take pride in your interpersonal skills and your ability to apply expertise in psychology and/or behavioural science, we would love to hear from you.We are currently seeking to appoint a team member to backfill one of our scientists on extended leave.As the Research Scientist – Behavioural Science, you will conduct innovative research leading to achievements that are aligned with CSIRO's strategies around improving the health and wellbeing of Australians.
You will provide specialised expertise to projects of the Public Health and Wellbeing group, within the Human Health Program.
Our research focusses on health and wellbeing issues relevant to the Australian community and you will be part of a team leveraging their science knowledge to have real world and visible impact.The Behavioural Science Team focusses on core strategic science areas including Wellbeing, Community Resilience and Trust, and Health Behaviour Change.
As a scientist in this Team, you will apply your experience in these areas, or general knowledge of psychology, public health or implementation science to projects in these spaces.We are based on Adelaide, but can accommodate remote arrangements for interested candidates from interstate.Your duties will include:Under the supervision of more senior researchers, assist in the planning and preparation of research proposals and carry out research investigations, requiring originality, creativity and innovation.Draw on professional expertise, knowledge of other disciplines and research experience to recognise opportunities for innovation and generate new theoretical perspectives by pursuing new ideas/approaches and networking with scientific colleagues across a range of disciplines.Undertake activities focused on one or more elements of larger research projects.Liaise with clients to determine their needs and take personal responsibility for client satisfaction.Present results in a meaningful format, prepare reports for clients and/or write scientific papers for publication.Other duties as directedLocation: Adelaide, SA preferred, other locations consideredSalary: AU$114K – AU$123K pa + 15.4% superannuationTenure: Specified term until 30 June 2026Reference: 99859To be considered you will need:A PhD (or an equivalent combination of qualifications and research experience) in a relevant field such as psychology, behavioural science, public health or implementation science.Demonstrated ability to undertake original, creative and innovative research by generating and pursuing novel ideas and solutions to scientific research problems.A demonstrated publication history of authorship on scientific papers in peer reviewed journals and/or reports, and grant applicationsFor full details about this role please review the Position DescriptionEligibilityApplications for this position are open to Australian/New Zealand Citizens, Australian Permanent Residents or you must either hold, or be able to obtain, a valid working visa for the duration of the specified term.
