The Hospital Coordinator acts as the key contact person for Hospital Executive after hours, supporting and promoting excellence in clinical practice, and enhanced clinical outcomes.

Responsible for coordinating hospital and staff activities in an effective and efficient manner after hours, the Hospital Coordinator facilitates all clinical areas and ensures the smooth running of operations within budget parameters for work hours per bed day.

To be successful the reliving Hospital Coordinator must:

- Display excellent communication, time management and negotiation skills.
- Have a belief and ability to promote the hospital's ethos including a sound value of trust and respect for all consumers, staff and other stakeholders.
- Contributes to creating a work climate that encourages positive staff morale, team work, motivation, support and commitment through:

- frequent contact with staff;
- effective, respectful, open communications;
- the implementation of a leadership style appropriate to the demands of each situation, always demonstrating mutual respect;
- problem solving and rendering expert management advice and role modelling whilst encouraging the professional development of staff.
- Promote a culture of clinical excellence that is based on person-centred care and working collaboratively with clinical, medical, administrative and allied health professionals to deliver quality, safe care and services within the available resources.
- Works closely with the Clinical Managers and ADON to determine the nurse staffing requirements for the nursing units on designated shifts.
- Ensure compliance with all standards, hospital policies and procedures, Work Health & Safety legislation, and maintains contemporaneous knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Demonstrates knowledge of, adheres to, and provides guidance to staff on the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHSS)

The position is initially a relieving position and the successful applicant/st will be expected to assist in covering personal leave, annual leave and long service leave. It is expected that applicants will discuss the position with their Clinical Manager to ensure they can be released to the role as required.
