Experience it here.About the program:AIR6500 is the RAAF's $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems.
AIR6500 will create a fully networked 'system of systems' that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.Your responsibilities will include:Help shape Australia's next generation of Defence capability.AIR6500 is a once-in-a-generation program delivering the Joint Air Battle Management System — an advanced, multi-domain solution that will connect land, air, sea, space and cyber operations.As a Lead Software Integration Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in deploying and integrating software builds into mission systems, solving complex system challenges, and guiding the technical direction of integration activities.
This position is hands-on, but also strategic — you'll mentor junior engineers, contribute to process improvement, and ensure successful outcomes across the program.In this role, you will:Lead integration planning, execution, and test events across multi-domain environments.Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.Drive improvements to CI/CD pipelines, automation, and environment set-up.Apply deep expertise in defect analysis, root cause identification, and solution design.Collaborate across Australian and US teams to ensure integration success.About you:To be successful in this role, you will have:Tertiary qualifications in Engineering and/or equivalent relevant experience in Defence projects.Strong leadership in system/software integration and test.Advanced knowledge of Defence Test & Evaluation.Experience across CI/CD, Linux administration, virtualisation, and containerisation.A track record of solving complex technical problems and driving outcomes.Familiarity with Defence domains such as C4ISREW, Command and Control, or Integrated Air & Missile Defence (highly regarded).
