As one of the region's largest and most respected packaging companies, we combine innovation, reliability, and a commitment to sustainability.We now have an exciting opportunity for a Packaging Systems Manager to join our ANZ Opal Packaging Systems Team, which supports customers across both Australia and New Zealand.
This role is based in Australia (Brisbane or Melbourne) and plays a key part in delivering technical expertise, service excellence, and integrated packaging systems to our customers.Your ImpactAs Packaging Systems Manager, you will take a lead role in developing and delivering machinery-based packaging solutions that exceed customer expectations.Key responsibilities include:Lead a safety-first culture across the machinery services team, ensuring safety is at the heart of all operations.Lead a team of Maintenance Managers and Technicians to drive the development, delivery, and ongoing improvement of packaging systems as part of the National Packaging Systems Team.Support the planning and delivery of scheduled and reactive maintenance programs to help maintain equipment uptime, performance, and compliance.Work closely with the sales team to explore and deliver technical solutions that add value and respond to changing customer needs.Prepare cost and value assessments for key projects, helping demonstrate benefits for both the customer and the wider "One Opal" team.Help shape and manage a forward-looking service schedule and materials plan that aligns with expected volumes and operational needs.Develop maintenance strategies that flex with seasonal patterns and specific site requirements to ensure continuity and efficiency.We can offer a varied career journey with experiential learning gained from cross-functional and lateral moves.
We embrace diversity in all its forms, and we look for curious individuals who thrive in an environment of change.For this role we would ideally like you to have:Greater than 3 years of Operational Management experience (this is a requirement)Specific market experience of at least 5yrs trading and installing various equipment (experience within a corrugated industry would be viewed favourably)Previous Project Management experience from concept to implementationStrong financial and budgetary acumenA strong understanding of related business processes (such as: purchase orders, invoices and work orders)Broad international exposure to machinery vendorsQualification in engineering or trade related fields would be well regardedExperience in leading teamsRelationship management/influencing skillsApplications are open to both internal and external candidates.
