**The Opportunity**:
The MNF (Marine National Facility) is responsible for overseeing the delivery of safe, successful and efficient marine research. Ship management services, including crewing, ongoing maintenance, compliance with domestic and international maritime regulations, and management of port periods and dry docks, are provided by an external supplier under contract. An internal engineering and technology Program provides the MNF with scientific technical services to support the deployment at sea and ongoing maintenance of the suite of scientific equipment and instruments on board RV Investigator.

As the Group Leader, Engagement & Risk you are responsible for championing science and governance excellence in the Program through effective leadership of the Policy, Procedure & Outreach, and the Risk, Safety & Compliance Teams. Working with Team Leaders, you will also drive a culture of continuous improvement and safe operations in pursuit of supporting science parties to achieve their desired outcomes.

If successful you will also be responsible for managing the relationship with Corporate HSE on behalf of the Program and high-level management of each of the Committees that govern and inform MNF operations. Working closely with multiple teams in Corporate CSIRO (including Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), Education, Governance, Communications, and the Indigenous Engagement Office, the Engagement & Risk Group are responsible for: assisting in setting the science context in which the MNF operates, managing legislative and regulatory compliance risks required for the facility; managing stakeholder and community engagement; secretariat duties in support of the associated committees; and, undertaking high level national and international representation of the MNF to expand its impact and opportunities for new business.

**Your duties will include**:
Technical Leadership:

- Manage the Policy, Procedure &Outreach and Risk, Safety & Compliance Team, leading staff (representing a range of disciplines), managing resources, directing and coordinating the completion of complex technical projects.
- Champion the development, implementation and standardisation of procedures and techniques.
- Provide high-level secretariat support to the MNF Steering Committee and associated committees.
- Collaborate effectively within and outside of the program to drive Group responsibilities and work to a common solution.

People Leadership:

**Salary**:AU$141k to AU$157k pa (pro-rata for part-time) + up to 15.4% superannuation

**To be considered you will need**:
Pre-Requisites:

- The ability to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card.
- A willingness and ability to travel interstate and, if required, internationally.

Essential:

- A degree in a related discipline such as governance, health and safety, marine science or relevant equivalent work experience.
- Proven leadership in the management of complex research-related programs, science technology operations and/or facilities, requiring harnessing of specialist knowledge and expertise from a range of disciplines and coordination across multiple and diverse groups and competing priorities.
- Demonstrated experience in high-level internal and external stakeholder engagement.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective and efficient teams through fostering an environment that promotes collaboration, individual responsibility and progressive thinking.
- Demonstrated experience in risk management, governance and/or health and safety, preferably in a marine or scientific research environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate openly and effectively and adapt your communication style to a diverse audience and build strong relationships with staff, stakeholders and customers at all levels.

Desirable:

- Hold a current driver's licence.
